Getting good Italian deli products in Seoul takes more effort than in Italy, but it is entirely possible. The key is knowing which venue type carries what — and accepting that import availability can shift with customs regulations and supplier stock.
Department Store Food Halls
The most reliable starting point for imported Italian products is the basement food hall at major department stores. These carry a curated but genuine selection of imported cheese, cured meats, and Italian pantry items with consistent stock rotation.
Best options:
- Lotte Department Store — Lotte main (Myeongdong), Lotte World Mall (Jamsil), and branch stores all have food halls with imported cheese and deli sections
- Shinsegae Department Store — Gangnam, Myeongdong, and Times Square locations carry European imports
- Hyundai Department Store — COEX, The Hyundai Seoul (Yeouido), and other branches
Expect to pay significantly more than European retail prices. The selection covers hard cheeses (parmigiano reggiano, pecorino, grana padano), packaged cured meats (prosciutto crudo, salami, mortadella), and some fresh buffalo mozzarella on rotation.
Specialty Import Shops
Maison de Miel (이태원) — A French-origin delicatessen in Itaewon that stocks a solid range of European imported products including Italian cheeses, charcuterie, and pantry items. Worth visiting for harder-to-find products.
Le Petit Four / Hamdeok and similar delis — Small European-style grocery and deli shops appear in Itaewon, Hannam-dong, and Mapo. These change over time — ask in the EEIK group for current recommendations in your neighborhood.
Wine shops — Shops with serious wine selections often maintain cheese and charcuterie to go with them. Wine shops in Gangnam, Hannam, and Itaewon are worth checking.
Online Delivery
Market Kurly (마켓컬리) — Dawn delivery of imported food products including cheese and occasionally cured meats. The selection changes but regularly includes European imports. Available nationwide.
Coupang — Next-day delivery of imported products including some Italian cheeses and packaged meats. Search 프로슈토, 파르미지아노 레지아노, 살라미, or 부라타 to find current listings.
SSG.com (쓱닷컴) — Shinsegae’s online platform, which mirrors some of the department store food hall selection.
Restaurant-Adjacent Retail
Some Italian restaurants in Seoul purchase from import suppliers and will sell retail portions informally. This is not standard practice, but if you have a favorite Italian restaurant and they serve excellent prosciutto or burrata, it is worth asking whether they sell any retail. Hannam-dong, Itaewon, and Mapo have the densest concentration of quality Italian restaurants.
Import Restrictions to Know
Korean customs rules can restrict certain fresh or raw cured meat products depending on country of origin and processing status. This occasionally affects availability of raw prosciutto crudo, nduja, and certain soft salumi. Vacuum-packed and aged products tend to have fewer issues.
If a specific product you are looking for seems unavailable, this may be the reason rather than demand. Asking an import shop what they can reliably get is more useful than searching for a specific product.
